Do’s and Don’ts for Focus Group Participants

blog

When selected for a focus group, we hope you are as excited about it as we are. It’s a chance for you to talk about your opinions and thoughts on various products & services. You get a chance to meet people who are different from you and also relate to you, while earning money for it.

So, how can you make your time of value to yourself and the researchers? Here’s some  do’s and don’ts as a participant in a focus group.

Do be talkative and share your opinon.

You were chosen for this focus group because you are exactly what the researchers were looking for- be proud and share your opinion! We want to hear what you have to say or else you wouldn’t have been selected.

Don’t be overbearing.

There is a difference between giving your opinion

and giving too much of it. You’ll get your chance to add what you think, but be respectful when others have the floor.

Do be early!

We LOVE when our participants arrive early for a focus group. It means you’re excited and actually care about the study. Often at times we offer a special prize for early birds!

Don’t be late and expect compensation.

If you’re extremely late, we usually have to cancel your participation, which means you won’t be paid. Whenever you think you won’t be able to make it to a scheduled study, please be courteous and give us a heads up. We really appreciate that, and will most likely keep you in mind for future studies.

And finally, do have fun!

Focus groups can be extremely fun. You never know what’s going to happen or what you’ll get to discuss. So make the most of it!
